My dad had a heart attack at 36 and my brother and I always say we got religion (exercise and diet) early! So, I’ve exercised all my life and (mostly) always loved it. I’ve swum and played squash competitively, as well as running, cycling, playing tennis, rock climbing and hiking.
Before joining PCF I was a member at a gym where I did a variety of stuff including spin, HIIT, some resistance training and grit type classes, which were like CrossFit light! While I knew people at the gym, there wasn’t any sense of community and I was getting bored mostly doing my own thing.
I drove past PCF on my way to work every day and was really keen to try Crossfit. I thought it was pretty hardcore, though, and wasn’t sure if I’d be able to do it. And that seems to be quite a common view. At the beginning of 2018, I actually did some research on Crossfit though and was blown away by the philosophy behind it and some of the YouTube videos showing how it could be scaled for age and ability.
So I took up the PCF free trial class and that, as they say, was that – pretty much love at first sweat! Thanks again Eddie!
I love the variety of the WODs and how they can be scaled to match my strength and fitness. The coaches are, without exception, brilliant. They’re all so professional, knowledgeable and experienced; but as importantly, interested in each person and make each class fun. They also make sure that everyone knows how to do each exercise and monitor everyone’s form. As I tell everyone, I feel like I have a personal trainer every day and look forward to every WOD! My message to anyone who feels s anxious about trying Crossfit is just to do it. You won’t regret it!
Bruce and Leanne have created an atmosphere and culture at PCF I truly value. Classes are like working out with mates who support and push each other to keep going when you’d happily collapse on the floor! But they also arrange regular social functions for everyone in the PCF community to get to know each other better and have fun doing it! You’ve built an amazing platform (pun intended) guys. Well done and thank you!
I was always interested in building strength and fitness, but wasn’t confident to hit the local gyms and compete with the herd and trying to work out what machine does what etc. Over the summer of 2013 I learnt of Crossfit and was happy to discover a box had just opened around the corner from my house. Almost three years later, I haven’t regretted my decision once. From the very first session, the atmosphere was contagious, with a strong group of training staff who manage to get the best out of everyone individually in a safe manner.
Since joining Platform CrossFit 2.5 years ago, I am the fittest and strongest I have ever been. I am a 46 year old who has been a gym member since the early 90’s and tried everything from pump classes to triathlons. Platform CrossFit is the most enjoyable and effective program I’ve ever undertaken. I feel that Bruce and the team are genuinely committed to helping me achieve my fitness goals and with their help I’ve achieved more since joining Platform CrossFit than anything else I’ve ever done. I’m so glad I joined, it really has hanged my life for the better.
A big thank you to the PCF CrossFit team for introducing me to the wonderful world of CrossFit. Right from the first session, I was very impressed with the CrossFit coaching approach, their clear concern for making sure I was doing the exercises right and their encouragement and good humour in making sure I get my best effort out of each session. I love the fact that each CrossFit session has a different variety of exercises and the culture of the gym is so friendly and supportive that I just keeping coming back for more, I’m positive you’ll love it as much as I do.
